The children discovered that Anglo-Saxon weapons would be crafted by a blacksmith who would use charcoal to shape the iron weaponry. Therefore, the children used charcoal to practice their shading and blending techniques to create a drawing of an Anglo-Saxon weapon (a sword or axe) that showed light and dark form.
